AFJROTC objectives are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship and life skills; promote community service; and instill a sense of responsibility, develop character, leadership, and self-discipline through education and instruction in air and space fundamentals and the Air Force’s core values of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do.
Echosystem Solution

Enlisting the Echosystem

The JROTC needed a solution that would work for every cadet, and EchoEngage fits the bill. Today, more than 4,000 instructors and 300,000 cadets across all branches of the JROTC use Echo360 for dynamic training in academics and drills. EchoEngage works hand-in-hand to help instructors create dynamic, interactive courses. EchoEngage’s live polling features help to increase engagement, too: In fact, 94% of participants felt that the response technology held their attention during the class.

Echo360's e3 Formula in Action

The USAF JROTC program wanted to maximize student engagement. Using EchoEngage solutions, cadets now attend live classes that incorporate responsive features like anywhere polling, inline quizzes, and gamification.

Distance learning presents new challenges, but also new opportunities. Echo360 technology allows cadets to work through self-paced courses that allow them to learn on their own schedules. They can work quickly through topics they understand easily and spend more time on complex topics that require more attention.

Novel presentations, interactive videos, and more drive interest and help cadets stay more engaged than they would in traditional classrooms. Multimedia presentations from the EchoEngage suite of tools and frequent mini-assessments keep student attention at a maximum. In addition, the technology enables all students to have a voice and participate, no matter how shy they might be.

Echo360 technology gave instructors the opportunity to determine which subject areas needed more attention.

3 Key Takeaways

Keep the classroom active and engaged

EchoEngage allows instructors to host chat rooms and discussion boards that encourage interaction between students. During live classes, instructors can separate students into smaller groups using breakout rooms. Instructors can spend time in each room to encourage thoughtful discussion.

Make boring material fun with gamification

Gamification in PointSolutions allows cadets to compete with each other and themselves. Leaderboards reflect the real-time best efforts of each JROTC cadet and highlight top performers.

Let everyone take charge of their own education

The flexibility inherent in asynchronous learning means each student learns on their timeline, and cadets return to the full classroom with new ideas to share.
