When the COVID-19 pandemic forced its campus to close, Bishop Garcia Diego HS needed to find a solution to deliver classes remotely to students all over the world. Bishop Garcia Diego High School administrators chose EchoVideo as the best way to deliver high-quality education to all students, no matter where (or when) they access their classes. The EchoVideo experience goes far beyond passively watching fixed-frame, traditional video — it offers so many ways for students to connect, whether that’s through interacting with classmates during live-streamed classes or responding to posts on a discussion board about an asynchronous individual assignment. Plus, anyone can go back to revisit tricky concepts at any time, as EchoVideo courses are recorded and hosted online for future reference.
Both international and domestic students can access lecture recordings on demand. And EchoVideo makes teaching equitable too — all of the Echo360 recordings are available in the LMS, so it makes it easier for substitute teachers to come in and facilitate instruction.
Teachers can talk to students directly using Zoom and they usually end the class on Zoom where they can answer questions and give assignments, just as they would in a normal class. But everything gets recorded in Echo360 and it is available for students later, fostering independent engagement with the material.
Although Bishop Garcia Diego HS has only been using Echo360 for a short period of time, Yokubaitis says they have achieved their initial goal of being able to reach international students. “We have achieved our goal of creating an engaging environment that allows us to take care of students.”
