Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy Launches New Video Learning Initiative to Support Student Engagement
At Roosevelt University’s College of Pharmacy – Illinois’ oldest three-year Doctor of Pharmacy program – faculty were looking for more ways to engage students in class. Additionally, the recording of classes had been frequently requested as a student service and for remediation if certain faculty weren’t available to reteach a topic. After evaluating multiple solutions, Roosevelt University selected Echo360 to help build more engaging in-class experiences and extend the teaching and learning experience beyond the lecture and classroom.
With Echo360, pharmacy students at Roosevelt will not only have on-demand access to classroom video, but they will also have access to tools that support greater participation and engagement in class. As students participate in class or revisit course video, they can flag sections of a lecture that may be confusing to them. They also can take notes time-synched with the lecture, share questions with instructors and classmates, as well as engage in formative assessments in the form of quizzes and polls that can inform the instructor.
“Our mission is to educate compassionate, competent and committed pharmacists,” says Melissa Hogan, Dean at Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy. “Our students are accustomed to our faculty providing meaningful learning experiences. This tool will support our faculty as they strive to engage students even more fully.”
In addition to the video and active learning features, another key reason why Echo360 was selected over other video platform solutions was because of its analytics capabilities. With Echo360 analytics, faculty members at Roosevelt will gain greater insights into the student experience, making it easier to understand how students interact with course content.
