All right, all right, all right! Active Learning Comes to Austin!
We’ll be in Austin, Texas this week for our 2014 Active Learning Conference Austin and we’re pretty pumped! Austin is definitely a city where all the cool kids hang out. It’s the Texas state capital, and with an enrollment of 52,000 students, UT Austin is one of the largest and most respected institutions in the US.
Austin is considered to be the live music capital of the world, with more than 100 venues where you can listen to live music every night of the year. With more than 3,000 restaurants and food trucks, Austin also offers up a vibrant food scene with as many places to eat per capita as New York City.
What else makes Austin special? Here are 3 fun facts you may not have known!
- Austin is the home of the largest urban bat population in North America! About 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats live in the deep openings underneath the Congress Avenue Bridge. And every evening around sunset from March until October, the bats fly from their home under the bridge in search of food!
- The state capital building is the largest state capital in the United States. In fact, the dome of the capital stands 7 feet higher than that of the United States Capital in Washington, DC. After all, everything is bigger in Texas.
- About 20 million people visit Austin every year, which is more than Disneyland and the Eiffel Tower combined! With great food, music, and Texas Longhorns football, we’re not surprised that so many people flock to the city.
To say that we’re excited about our 2014 Active Learning Conference Austin is an understatement. Attendees will get an up close look at our new Active Learning Platform. From lecture capture, instructional content management, student engagement, to learner analytics, one solution truly does it all. We also have a superb lineup of faculty members and technologists who will share how they are redefining the meaning of innovation both inside and outside of the classroom with the platform.
Can’t join us? Not a problem. We’ll be tweeting live from the conference, which runs from Oct 28-29. We invite you to follow the conversation by using the hashtag #2014ALC.
