The University of Sheffield prides itself for being a world-class university that provides a unique student learning experience. To continue their commitment to meet the needs of its diverse student body, the University recently expanded the use of Echo360 lecture capture technology campus-wide. With this expansion, by the end of the 2017-18 academic year, every student will be able to view any lecture online immediately after class from their computer or mobile device, unless lecturers specifically ask to opt-out.

The University adopted the opt-out approach in response to student feedback stating lecture capture is essential to their learning. The impact of the Echo360 expansion into every teaching space on campus has been extremely positive with:

Increased insight into classroom participation. With Echo360 analytics, lecturers can now identify areas of student confusion, revise their instruction, and clear up student misunderstanding.

Improved student satisfaction globally. Students now have access to lecture content on-demand, no matter if they are based in China, Sheffield, and or anywhere in the world.

Easy-to-manage and reliable technology at scale. Administrators can now reliably and confidently scale the number of classes recorded from 600 to up to 48,000 per year without the need of additional staff.
