Automated Captioning
with Automatic Sync Technologies (AST)
Deaf and hard of hearing students are often faced with the impossible choice of watching an interpreter sign while taking notes. Lecture capture with closed captioning levels the playing field for these students by allowing them to focus on the lecture while leaving study time to create their own set of notes.
Echo360 has implemented closed captioning standards for its rich media player in line with broadcast television standards. To automate the insertion of captions, Echo360 works with Automatic Sync Technologies.
AST is the leading provider of automated captioning, audio synchronization, and audio/video search tools for webcasting, DVD, and broadcasting applications. Leveraging our leading-edge speech processing and pattern identification software, AST provides clients with solutions for synchronized multimedia with quick turnaround and unsurpassed quality.
Benefits of EchoSystem Captioning with AST
How It Works
The EchoSystem tags lectures that require captions as part of the normal scheduling process. When the class is complete, the lecture audio file is uploaded to Automatic Sync’s CaptionSync™ server for transcription and/or captioning. The completed files are ingested into the EchoSystem, which then applies synchronized captions to each lecture and publishes the final lecture for student review.
